Club Strokeplay, Saturday 19th September: 32 players across four grades, with two grades decided by 9-hole playoffs. 🏆 Senior: Darren McKenna 98 (51+47), after a playoff with Phil Reynolds 98 (49+49) — Darren five under for the nine, Phil one shot back on four under. John Conaghan was third on 99. 🏆 Intermediate: Seanie Hoey 101 (51+50), after a playoff with Kyle Thornton 101 (53+48). Level after the nine, Seanie holed in one at the 10th in sudden death. Gel Martin was third on 102. 🏆 Junior: Kevin O'Brien 111 (57+54), from Richard Tinley 112 (56+56). Paddy Carroll was third on 114. 🏆 Ladies: Ann Bird 127 (68+59). Stats of the day, from the 32 cards — 1,143 holes played: 1 hole-in-one, 211 birdies (18%), 704 pars (62%), 194 bogeys (17%) and 33 doubles or worse (3%). Most birdies: Darren McKenna and Phil Reynolds, 13 each — the playoff pair. John Conaghan had 11, and Colm Lynch's 10 was the most in the Inter grade. Most pars: Kieran McDonnell, Bobby O'Brien and Paddy Carroll, 28 of 36 — Paddy's second round finished with nine straight 3s. Steadiest cards: Seanie Hoey, Kyle Thornton, Gel Martin, Kieran McDonnell and John Conaghan dropped shots on just 2 holes out of 36. Easiest hole: the 11th — 2.88 average, 18 birdies. Hardest hole: the 18th — 3.33 average, 21 bogeys or worse, and the day's highest score, a 7. All or nothing: the 14th gave up 14 birdies and 17 bogeys — plus Barry Dyas's hole-in-one. Best round of the day: Darren McKenna's closing 47, from the 48s of Greg Hoey and Kyle Thornton. Two majors remain in the 2026 Player of the Year: the Club Strokeplay on Saturday 19th September and Captain's Day on Saturday 26th September. A grade win at a major is worth 25 points.
